About RE Consulting
Rassie Erasmus Consulting was established in 2014, following 30 years in the Human Resource, Training and Development Industry and Industrial Relations fields. In 2009 Rassie completed his Human Resources Diploma at MBA level through the Management College of SA. In order to facilitate and deal with the ever-increasing dynamics of the working environment and associated legislation, Rassie completed an Advanced Labour Law Diploma through Unisa in 2014. Rassie’s passion for people development, the intricacy of human behaviour and his interest in forensic investigations, triggered his enrolment at the American International Institute of Polygraph SA CC in 2016, where he obtained a Diploma in Psychophysiological Detection of Deception and qualified as a Forensic Psycho Physiologist (Forensic Polygraph Examiner).
Forensic Physiological Testing
Physiological: Recorded by the polygraph instrument and controlled and influenced by the Autonomic Nervous System (ANS) of the human body. The fear of detection of deception during the polygraph test changes the ongoing physiological activity of the ANS.
Forensic Investigation: The gathering, analysis and application of all crime/deception-related physical evidence by the Polygraph Examiner informing the result of the polygraph test.
Polygraph Instrument
The polygraph instrument used, is a modern Lafayette computerised system which is calibrated before and during testing to confirm the instruments functionality. The instrument uses various sensors, placed on the person’s body to record select physiological activities.
- Pneumograpgh chest assemblies which record upper body movement associated with breathing
- Galvanograph which is placed on the surface of the skin i.e. the hand where it records electrodermal activity (sweat gland activity)
Photoelectric Plethysmograph is a finger sensor which records the rapidly occurring relative changes in pulse blood volume.
- Blood Pressure Cuff placed around the arm which records cardiovascular activity (relatively blood pressure and heart rate)
- Movement Sensor (seat pad) which records body movement
